We are gearing up for the 2021 big game fishing season (starting with Bluefin tuna in February and moving on to Blue Marlin at the end of Spring). Giant Bluefin, Blue Marlin and also Bigeye Tuna and Yellowfin Tuna require sturdy, meticulously prepared tackle (we’ll do a post on tackle prep soon), mostly at the top end of IGFA line classes.
Large lever drag reels loaded with copious amounts of 130 and 80 line on bent butt rods are the way to go. While we have a Black Magic stand up harness and belt ready (mostly for double hook ups, to be honest), most of our guests opt to battle their dream catch from the fighting chair. A good quality seat harness not only improves our chances, it ensures that we can release the fish faster and in better health: good for the angler and good for the fish! We are therefore delighted to have taken delivery of this little beauty: our new seat harness for those epic battles on the heavy tackle.
