It was the fishing! La Gomera offers the best fishing in the Canary Islands. We were, however, happy to discover that, in addition to the very long fishing season and the fact that our quarry are the stuff that dreams are made of – large blue marlin, giant bluefin tuna, bigeye and yellowfin tuna well into three figures, a good shot at white marlin and spearfish in addition to good runs of dolphinfish and wahoo, with many other species in between, the island offers so much more! La Gomera is a beautiful island (it enjoys World Biosphere Reserve status, with 17 protected areas covering a third of the island) with a great variety of landscapes: from mountains and deep ravines to fertile green valleys, forests, streams and beaches – all surrounded by the deep blue Atlantic Ocean.
There is plenty to do in La Gomera besides the world class sportfishing – a very good 18 hole golf course, bicycle, running and walking trails, accommodation to suit every taste and budget, a nautical club, a variety of great restaurants, whale and dolphin watching (ask us about those activities – happy to oblige), diving and a whole lot more – all within easy reach from most European airports and all part of Europe!
